Dear Parents:
Eastern Regional High School is proud to inform you of its 4-year comprehensive Gifted & Talented Program. Our district offers students Advanced Placement courses in the academic and performing disciplines as well as an elective series of interdisciplinary courses entitled Gifted and Talented Seminar. Eastern’s GT program is based on the School-wide Enrichment Model developed by Dr. Joseph Renzulli of the University of Connecticut National Center for Gifted Education. An outline of our 4-year program is included.
We believe that intelligence is not a unitary concept; therefore, single definitions cannot be used to explain the complicated concept. Understanding that there is often a limited relationship between test scores and real world accomplishments, we open our program to students who demonstrate well above average ability, task commitment and creativity. We direct our efforts toward developing gifted behaviors in our students.
The Gifted & Talented program offers:
Model U.N. Conferences at local high schools and regional universities
Field Trips to cultural and historical places
Leadership workshops
On-site and off-site speaker events
Service Learning opportunities
Partnerships with schools in Malawi and Uganda
We invite you to consider having your child tested for our GT program. This year’s test is scheduled for Saturday, November 15, 2025 at Eastern Regional High School. Students should be dropped off at the Rear Entrance for testing. Testing will begin promptly at 8:00 a.m. and will conclude at 11:00 a.m.
