PSAT/NMSQT

PSAT/NMSQT

On Wednesday, October 1st Eastern Regional High School will be administering the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) to all freshmen, sophomores, and juniors.  The PSAT provides first-hand practice for the SAT.  In addition, students will receive feedback on strengths and weaknesses in areas necessary for college study.

Seniors will report to the 500 cafeteria to engage in a day of senior-only activities and presentations.

All students should report to school by the regular start time of 7:30am.  Students will be testing in their TIR unless otherwise notified.  No academic classes will take place.  Student dismissal will be at 11:30am.  Students with an accommodation that provides extra testing time will be dismissed at 12:30.  Buses will be available for all students.

The PSAT will be administered on a digital platform.  Students must bring their fully charged, school-issued iPad to the test.  Spare iPads will not be provided.  Please confirm that the “Bluebook Exams” app has been installed.  Students should also open the app to ensure that the latest version is being used.

The PSAT is overseen by the College Board and is not a state-required or district assessment.  Therefore, standardized testing accommodations through an IEP or 504 plan can only be utilized if they have been pre-approved by the College Board.

A calculator can be used on designated sections of the test and is provided through the Bluebook app.  Students can also bring a handheld calculator.   Calculators will not be provided by the school.  A list of approved calculators can be found here.

More information regarding the PSAT/NMSQT can be found here. Should you have any questions, please contact your child’s guidance counselor.
