PSATs - Weds October 12th
On Wednesday, October 12th, Eastern Regional High School will be administering the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) to all sophomores, juniors, and freshman in honors math courses. The PSAT provides firsthand practice for the SAT. In addition, students will receive feedback on strengths and weaknesses in areas necessary for college study.
All students who are taking the test should report to school by the regular start time of 7:30am. Students will be testing in their TIR unless otherwise notified.
Those students not taking the PSAT/NMSQT should arrive to school by 9:45 am, at which time they will proceed to the Performing Arts Center. The non-testing students who take a bus to school should report to their pick-up location two and one-half hours later than the regular time. For example, if your regular pick-up time is 6:45 a.m., non-testing students will be picked up at 9:15 a.m.
The PSAT is overseen by the College Board and is not a state-required or district assessment. Therefore, standardized testing accommodations through an IEP or 504 plan can only be utilized if they have been preapproved by the College Board.
Students participating in the PSAT will receive a PSAT practice booklet in their English class.
A calculator can be used for some sections of the test. It is recommended that all students bring a calculator on test day. Calculators will not be provided by the school. A list of approved calculators can be found here.
A modified bell schedule will be used for the day and can be found here.
A limited number of tests are available to freshmen not enrolled in an honors math course on a first come, first served basis. Contact your counselor by Friday, October 7th if you are interested in participating.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding in this matter. Should you have any questions please contact your grade-level vice principal or guidance counselor.
