NJSLA-S Testing on May 29th & 30th for the Class of 2020

Bell Schedules for May 29th and 30th

May 2, 2019

Dear Parent/Guardian(s):

Eastern Regional High School will administer the NJSLA-S on May 29 and 30, 2019 to all 11th grade students.  The NJSLA-S is a comprehensive science assessment and replaces the end-of-course high school biology assessment.  Although the NJSLA-S is not a graduation requirement, districts are required by the NJDOE to participate in the administration of this test and students are expected to participate[N.J.A.C.6A-8-4.1(d)].

Parents/Guardians that request that their student not participate in the NJSLA-S for grade 11 must complete the “NJSLA-S Participation Status Form” in the Parent Portal of PowerSchool.  To complete the NJSLA-S refusal process in PowerSchool (1) Log into the Parent Portal on PowerSchool, (2) select Forms, (3) select NJSLA Participation Status, and (4) complete the information requested.

Students not participating in the assessment will be assigned to an alternative location, for a study period.

Letters and/or emails will not be accepted. The deadline for online submission of the request for non-participation is May 20, 2019. All students will be scheduled and will be expected to participate in the NJSLA-S unless a completed non-participation form has been received by May 20, 2019.

Please consult the Eastern website for more information or contact your child’s guidance counselor for further questions.
