Overview

  • At Eastern Camden Country Regional School District we believe that every student has gifts and capacities and can make a contribution in our community. We believe in a strength based person centered approach that discovers these gifts and supports each student in learning the skills that will help them achieve the future that they and those close to them envision.

When a student experiences difficulties within the general education classroom and all documented accommodations and modifications have been unsuccessful, and it is believed that the student may have a disability, the student shall be referred for an evaluation to determine eligibility for special education programs and services. The Child Study Team will determine a student’s need for a comprehensive educational evaluation. The Child Study Team, in consultation with the student, their family, and teachers, determines a student’s eligibility for special education services based upon evaluation results.

Students who qualify for special education services are encouraged and supported to plan, attend, and contribute in a meaningful way in the Individualized Education Program (IEP) process. At Eastern, we believe that in order for each student to best prepare for adult life, he or she should understand their abilities and disability and the purpose of their IEP. Over time, with the assistance of their case manager, family and educational team they should develop self-determination skills and learn how to advocate for their needs so that they can meet with success.

Eastern Camden County Regional School District offers a full continuum of services for students with disabilities who are eligible for special education services. For more details, contact Susan Roth.
